Running a great board game group means more than just scheduling events — it means keeping your community informed, engaged, and connected between sessions. WR-Games gives organizers and members a full suite of communication tools: broadcast announcements that reach every inbox, real-time chat for casual banter, threaded forum discussions for deeper topics, and polls to find the best time for your next game night.
Announcements
Announcements let organizers send a message to every member of the group at once. When you publish an announcement, members receive both an in-app notification and an email, making it your highest-visibility communication channel. Use announcements for:
- Welcoming a surge of new members after a community event
- Sharing important rule changes or updates to group expectations
- Reminding members about an upcoming flagship event
- Announcing a venue change or cancellation
To send an announcement, go to Group → Announcements → New Announcement. The rich text editor lets you format your message with headings, bullet points, bold text, and hyperlinks — so your announcements look polished and are easy to scan.
Use announcements sparingly. Members receive an email notification for every announcement you send, so frequent messages risk training your community to tune them out. Reserve announcements for genuinely important updates and let chat or the forum handle day-to-day conversation.
Group Chat
Group chat gives every member a real-time space for casual conversation, quick questions, and in-the-moment coordination. It’s perfect for the “who’s bringing the snacks?” moments that keep a community feeling alive between events.
Real-time chat is available on all plans, including Free.
Members access chat from the Chat tab on the group page. Organizers and co-hosts can pin important messages and moderate the chat by removing posts or muting members.
Forum and Discussion Threads
The group forum is where longer-form conversations live. Unlike chat — which flows in real time and is easy to lose track of — forum threads are organized by topic and persist for members to find later. Use the forum for:
- Game recommendations — which titles should the group play next?
- Event recaps — share highlights and photos from last night’s session.
- Rules discussions — settle the eternal debate about a specific card’s wording.
- Introductions — new members can introduce themselves to the community.
Any member can start a new thread. Organizers can pin important threads to the top of the forum so they stay visible, and can lock threads to prevent further replies when a conversation has run its course.
Schedule Finder Polls
Finding a time that works for your group is often the hardest part of planning an event. Schedule Finder polls solve that. As an organizer, you propose a set of candidate dates and times, then share the poll with your members. Each member marks which slots work for them, and WR-Games surfaces the option with the most availability.
To launch a Schedule Finder poll, go to Group → Schedule Finder → New Poll, add your candidate time slots, and publish. Members receive a notification and can vote from the group page or directly from the notification.
Group Polls
For quick, lightweight decisions — “Should we add a house rule?”, “Which expansion should we play next?” — Group Polls let you post a yes/no or multiple-choice question visible to all members. Polls appear on the group home page and close automatically on whatever deadline you set.
To create a poll, go to Group → Polls → New Poll, write your question, add options, set a closing date, and post.
Welcome Message
The welcome message is the first thing a new member reads after joining your group. It’s your chance to set the tone, share important links, point people toward the forum introduction thread, and let them know what to expect.
To set or update your welcome message, go to Settings → Welcome Message. The rich text editor supports formatting and links, so you can create something genuinely warm and useful rather than a wall of plain text.
