Not every community wants to be open to the world, and not every group should be hard to find. WR-Games gives you three visibility levels so you can match your group’s privacy to its purpose — whether that’s a wide-open public club, a members-only community that still appears in search, or a completely hidden group that only exists for those in the know. Pair any visibility level with invite links and join approval to get exactly the access model you need.

Public

Public groups appear in the WR-Games group directory and in search results. Anyone browsing the platform can see your group name, description, tags, and upcoming events. Members can join instantly if you have open join enabled, or submit a request if you require approval — the choice is yours.

Private

Private groups still show up in the directory and search, so people can discover that your group exists. However, content — events, forum threads, chat, and member lists — is only visible to members. Prospective members must submit a join request, which an organizer reviews before granting access.

Hidden

Hidden groups are completely invisible to non-members. They don’t appear in the directory, in search results, or anywhere else on the platform. The only way to join is through a direct invite link shared by an organizer. Hidden groups are ideal for closed playtesting circles, private game clubs, or invite-only competitive leagues.
Hidden groups require a Pro plan. Public and Private visibility are available on all plans, including Free.
If you downgrade from Pro and currently have one or more hidden groups, contact WR-Games support before completing the downgrade. Failing to do so may change your hidden groups’ visibility unexpectedly.
Invite links let you bring new members directly into your group with a single shareable URL — no searching the directory required. They’re essential for hidden groups, but they work just as well for private and public groups when you want to fast-track someone past the approval queue.
1

Go to Invite Links settings

Navigate to Group → Settings → Invite Links.
2

Generate a new link

Click Generate Invite Link. WR-Games creates a unique URL tied to your group. You can optionally set an expiry date or a maximum number of uses.
3

Share the link

Copy the link and share it however you like — message, email, social media, or your group’s external website. Anyone who clicks it will be taken directly to your group’s join page.
If an invite link has been shared too widely or you want to stop new joiners without removing existing members, you can revoke it at any time from Settings → Invite Links → Revoke. Current members are unaffected — only future use of that link is blocked. You can generate a fresh link whenever you’re ready to invite again.

Join Approval for Public Groups

Even if your group is Public, you can require organizer approval before someone officially becomes a member. This is useful when you want community discoverability but still want to vet new members. To enable approval on a public group, go to Settings → Join Settings and switch the join mode to Request Required. Incoming requests will appear in Group → Members → Pending Requests, where you can approve or decline each one. On Standard and Pro plans, you’ll also see each applicant’s Trust Score to help you decide. You can also set up a group questionnaire — a short set of questions applicants answer when requesting to join. Responses appear alongside the join request, giving you useful context before you approve.

Event Visibility by Group Type

Your group’s privacy setting also affects how your events appear across the platform:
  • Public group events are listed publicly on WR-Games and may appear in search results and the events directory. Anyone can view event details.
  • Private and Hidden group events are only visible to current members. Non-members cannot see that the event exists, even if they have the direct event URL.
