Groups are the heart of WR-Games. Every event, game night, and board game session lives inside a group, making them the primary way players find their community and organizers build one. Whether you’re running a tight-knit crew of euro-game enthusiasts or opening the doors to the whole city, groups give you the tools to manage membership, control visibility, and keep your community active.

Visibility Levels

When you create a group, you choose how visible it is to the rest of the WR-Games community. Each visibility level controls who can find the group, who can see its content, and how new members can join.

Public

Appears in the group directory and search results. Anyone can view the group’s content and join directly or submit a join request.

Private

Appears in the group directory, but only members can view events and content. Non-members see the group name and description only.

Hidden

Does not appear in the directory or search results. New members can only join via a private invite link. Requires a Pro plan.

Membership Roles

Every group member holds one of three roles that determine what they can see and do within the group. For a full breakdown of permissions, see the Roles page.
  • Member — can RSVP to events, view group content, and interact with other members.
  • Co-host — can create and manage events, approve join requests, and assist with day-to-day group operations.
  • Organizer — full control over the group, including settings, billing, member roles, and group deletion.

Finding and Joining a Group

1

Browse the directory

Head to the Groups tab to explore public and private groups in your area. Use filters to narrow by location, game type, or group size.
2

Request to join or join directly

Public groups may allow instant joining or require organizer approval. Private groups always require approval. For hidden groups, you need an invite link from a current member.
3

Accept an invite link

If someone shares a group invite link with you, open it while logged in to join or request access immediately — no searching required.

Group Limits by Plan

The number of groups you can create (and the types available to you) depends on your WR-Games plan.

Every account on the Free plan includes one group at no cost. You can create and run a public or private group, host events, and manage members without upgrading.
If your group is just getting started, a Public group gives you the best visibility to attract new members from the WR-Games directory. You can always change the visibility level later from your group settings.
