Your WR-Games account is the foundation for everything you do on the platform — joining groups, RSVPing to events, syncing your game collection, and building your reputation in the local board game community. This page walks you through creating an account and configuring the settings that matter most.

Creating Your Account

WR-Games supports three sign-in methods. All are free and equally supported — choose whichever fits your setup.
1

Go to WR-Games

Open wr-games.com in your browser and click Sign Up in the navigation bar.
2

Choose a sign-in method

Select one of the following options on the sign-up screen:Email and password Enter your email address and choose a strong password. WR-Games will send a verification email — click the link inside to activate your account before signing in.Continue with Google Click the Google button and authorize WR-Games through the Google OAuth prompt. Your Google account email is used to identify you; you won’t need a separate password.Continue with Apple Click the Apple button and sign in with your Apple ID. If you prefer not to share your real email address, use Apple’s Hide My Email option — WR-Games will receive a private relay address instead.
3

Verify your email (email sign-up only)

If you registered with email and password, check your inbox for a message from WR-Games. Click Verify Email to activate your account. Check your spam folder if it doesn’t arrive within a few minutes.
Do not share your WR-Games password with anyone. WR-Games staff will never ask for your password.

Setting Your Display Name and Profile Photo

Your display name is how you appear to other members, organizers, and anyone who views your public profile. Choose a name you’re comfortable with — it doesn’t have to be your legal name. Your profile photo is optional but strongly encouraged. A recognizable photo helps organizers identify you at events and makes it easier for fellow players to connect with you. You can upload a photo from your device or link one from a supported service. Supported formats are JPEG and PNG; photos are cropped to a square. To update either setting, navigate to Profile → Edit Profile from the top navigation.

Adding Your City

WR-Games uses your city to surface relevant local groups, events, and venues. Enter your city in your profile settings to enable location-based discovery.
WR-Games is currently piloting in Washington, DC. If you’re outside the DC area, you can still join and explore — activity in other cities will grow as more organizers come on board.
Your city is displayed on your public profile. WR-Games does not collect or store your precise location.

Linking Your BoardGameGeek Username

Connecting your BoardGameGeek (BGG) account unlocks collection sync — WR-Games imports your owned games, wishlist, and want-to-play list and organizes them into automatic folders.
Linking your BGG username is completely optional. You can use WR-Games fully without it, but BGG sync enables game notifications and Bringing Lists that are powered by your collection data.
Once your BGG username is linked, WR-Games will:
  • Import your owned games and organize them into folders automatically
  • Notify you when a game from your collection or wishlist appears at an upcoming event nearby
  • Let you add games from your collection to a Bringing List at any event you attend, so other players know what you’re bringing to the table
To link your username, go to Profile → Settings → BoardGameGeek and enter your BGG username exactly as it appears on your BGG profile. The sync runs automatically after you save.

Setting Your Profile Slug

Your profile slug is the custom identifier at the end of your public WR-Games URL:
wr-games.com/users/your-slug
A slug makes your profile easy to share and gives you a consistent public identity across the platform. Slugs must be lowercase, contain only letters, numbers, and hyphens, and be unique across all WR-Games accounts. To set or update your slug, go to Profile → Settings → Public URL. Once you’ve set a slug, your old URL will no longer work, so update any links you’ve shared when you change it.

Notification Preferences

WR-Games sends notifications for event reminders, Roll Call confirmations, waitlist updates, group announcements, and game alerts. You can control which notifications you receive and how. Navigate to Settings → Notifications to configure:
  • Email notifications — Event reminders, Roll Call, and waitlist alerts delivered to your inbox
  • In-app notifications — Activity updates visible in the WR-Games notification center
  • Game alerts — Notifications when a game from your collection or wishlist appears at a nearby event
You can turn each category on or off independently. WR-Games does not support SMS notifications for standard accounts (SMS Roll Call is an organizer feature on eligible plans).

Password Reset and Account Security

Resetting your password If you signed up with email and password and need to reset it, click Forgot Password on the sign-in page. Enter your email address and WR-Games will send a reset link. The link expires after 60 minutes — request a new one if it expires. Changing your password While signed in, go to Settings → Security → Change Password. You’ll need to enter your current password before setting a new one. Switching sign-in methods You can add a Google or Apple sign-in to an existing email account (or vice versa) from Settings → Security → Connected Accounts, as long as both methods use the same email address.
Use a unique, strong password for your WR-Games account — especially if you use the same email address for your BGG account and other gaming platforms. A password manager makes this easy to maintain.
