# Import Your Meetup Group to WR-Games

> Create a WR-Games group by importing from Meetup — paste your group URL, review the details, and go.

<Note>
  Meetup group import is currently available to early access users only. If you don't see the import option, your account may not yet have access.
</Note>

The Meetup import wizard creates a new WR-Games group from your existing Meetup group — bringing your group details and event feed over automatically so you're not starting from scratch.

## Before You Start

* You need an active Meetup account.
* You must be an **organizer** of the Meetup group you're importing.

## Where to Find It

The import wizard is available from two places:

* **Create a Group page** — look for the import banner above the new-group form.
* **Onboarding Wizard** — the group setup step includes an option to import from Meetup.

## How to Import

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the import wizard">
    Start from either entry point above. The wizard opens as a modal.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Paste your Meetup group URL">
    Enter the URL of your Meetup group (e.g. `meetup.com/your-group-name`). WR-Games fetches your group details from Meetup and pre-fills the next step.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Review and adjust the details">
    Check the pre-filled information before creating the group:

    * **Group name, city, and description** — pulled from Meetup; edit freely.
    * **Cover image** — imported from your Meetup group; you can replace it after.
    * **Event display mode** — choose **Side-by-side** (native WR-Games RSVPs alongside Meetup attendance) or **Link-out** (RSVPs stay on Meetup). See [Meetup Integration](/groups/meetup-integration) for a full breakdown.
    * **Auto-assign me as host** — optionally have yourself set as host on newly synced events automatically.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Create the group">
    Confirm and the group is created. Your Meetup events begin syncing automatically.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## After the Import

* Your new WR-Games group is live immediately.
* Meetup events start syncing — mirrors appear within the first sync cycle (about 15 minutes).
* **Existing Meetup members are not automatically added.** They'll need to create a WR-Games account and join your group independently. Share your group invite link to get them in.

## FAQ

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Can I import more than one Meetup group?">
    Yes — each import creates a separate WR-Games group. Run the wizard once per Meetup group, subject to your plan's group limit.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What if I'm already at my group limit?">
    Import counts as creating a new group. If you're at your plan's limit, you'll need to upgrade or remove an existing group first.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What's the difference between import and attach?">
    **Import** creates a brand-new WR-Games group from a Meetup group. **Attach** connects an existing WR-Games group to Meetup for ongoing sync. If your WR-Games group already exists, see [Meetup Integration](/groups/meetup-integration) to attach it instead.
